Mod Install Guide (Java — Modded Server)

Automatic Mod Sync with Packwiz

The modded server uses packwiz to keep your client mods in sync automatically. Follow these steps once — after that, mods update themselves every time you launch.

What you'll need

  • Minecraft Java Edition (purchased)
  • Prism Launcher or MultiMC (free, open-source launchers)
  • About 5 minutes

Step-by-step setup

  1. Download a launcher
Install Prism Launcher (recommended) or MultiMC.
  2. Create a Fabric 1.20.4 instance
In your launcher, click Add Instance → select Minecraft 1.20.4 → choose Fabric as the mod loader. Any recent Fabric Loader version works.
  3. Download packwiz-installer-bootstrap
Get the latest packwiz-installer-bootstrap.jar from GitHub Releases. Place it in your instance’s .minecraft folder (right-click instance → "Open .minecraft").
  4. Set the pre-launch command
Right-click your instance → EditSettingsCustom Commands → enable Pre-launch command and paste:
    "$INST_JAVA" -jar packwiz-installer-bootstrap.jar https://gitea.bennettdavid.com/bee8333/mc-modpack/raw/branch/main/pack.toml
  5. Launch & play!
Hit Launch. The packwiz installer will automatically download Fabric API, WebStreamer, and any future mods. Connect to craft.bennettdavid.com:25566 and enjoy.

Mod updates are automatic

Every time you launch, packwiz checks for changes to the modpack. If a mod is added, updated, or removed on the server, your client syncs automatically — no manual downloads needed.

Current Mod List

Mod Version Purpose
Fabric API 0.97.3 Required core library
WebStreamer 1.5.0 In-game video streaming (movie theater)

More mods may be added over time. Packwiz syncs them automatically.

Request a Mod

Want a mod added to the server?

  1. Check that the mod supports Fabric 1.20.4
  2. Open an issue on the modpack repo
  3. Include the mod name, link, and why you want it

Only admins can merge mod additions to main. Approved mods auto-deploy on the next server restart.

In-Game Movie Theater

Watch Movies & Shows in Minecraft

The modded server features a built-in movie theater powered by WebStreamer and our Plex media library. Walk into the theater, take a seat, and watch real movies on a giant in-game screen.

How It Works

Movies auto-shuffle from our Plex library — there's always something playing. The WebStreamer mod renders the stream on a 54×30 block IMAX screen. Audio plays within range of the seats, just like a real theater.

Want to pick what's playing? Open the Cinema Remote on your phone and tap a movie poster.

Finding the Theater

  1. Connect to the modded server
Join craft.bennettdavid.com:25566 with your Fabric 1.20.4 client (see mod install guide above).
  2. Install mods first
WebStreamer must be installed on your client for the screen to render. The packwiz auto-sync handles this — just make sure you've followed the mod setup instructions.
  3. Walk to the theater
Follow signs from spawn to the movie theater building. Take a seat in the auditorium.
  4. Enjoy the show
Look at the screen — the video loads automatically. Audio plays when you're within range of the seating area.

Performance Note

Video streaming uses your client's resources (CPU + bandwidth). If you experience lag, try lowering your Minecraft render distance. The stream resolution is managed server-side to balance quality and performance.

Now Showing

Movies auto-shuffle from the Plex library. A new movie starts automatically when the current one ends.

Want to pick? Open the Cinema Remote on your phone — browse posters and tap to play.
